The History Project at UC Davis joins SJUSD 4th grade teachers as they explore teaching the challenging topics of California Native Americans and the Missions and Civil Rights in California. The goal is to give teachers more knowledge, pedagogical skills, and confidence to teach challenging issues in their classrooms.

The two workshops will be open to all SJUSD 4th grade teachers and will feature:

  • Brief introduction of the instructional shifts in the new History-Social Science Framework and the process of Historical Investigation using investigative questions
  • Academic talk on each topic designed to help teachers gain a deeper knowledge
  • Model lessons and primary source sets to support historical investigations

(Note: Each date has a time for each major topic)
