A Moravian Mission for Indians: "Baptism of Indian converts in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, 1757." In the 1740s Moravians set up missions in Pennsylvania for the Delaware and Mahican nations; they baptized men and women separately and changed their cultures as much as possible. The Indians burned one such mission in 1755. Engraving.
