We join with the Yolo and Sacramento County Offices of Education to bring educators in the city of Sacramento and Yolo County an information session from the Martin Luther King Jr Freedom Center regarding their civic education opportunities for students.
The Martin Luther King Jr Freedom Center, headquartered at Merritt College in Oakland, collaborates statewide with schools and school districts, elected officials, and community–based initiatives to advance youth and family civic engagement, ethical leadership, and economic and educational equity through personal transformation and direct action.
On Thursday, October 28th at 4 pm, the Freedom Center will be discussing the opportunity to connect students in Yolo County and Sacramento City to meaningful and uplifting civic engagement opportunities. In addition, the Freedom Center will be discussing four Social Justice Action and Advocacy Academies they produce a year for students from California and beyond. These academies focus on assisting students to develop their ability to speak up and become leaders in their communities.
Please join us if you want to learn about these opportunities for students and how you can nominate your students for them.
